This morning when I went out to TRY to see the meteor shower I saw instead some blue-green eyes glowing?

in the dark down by an inlet of the Gulf of Mexico...bright blue-green and staring, low to the ground...so are reptile eyes this color in the dark? Because I noticed that mammals eyes glow red in the dark...so this creature stares at me and then turns and stolls out to the water's edge and I couldn't see it anymore...so who knows what alligator eyes look like in the dark...or how about nutria, which is a rodent...anyone?
